And the MFU upgrade potentially scuppers the Lounge access
The originally itinerary books something like:
MAN-LHR - J class - 20 TPs and lounge

LHR-NYC - T class - 75 TPs, no lounge

NYC-LHR - T class - 75 TPs, no lounge

LHR-MAN - J class - - 20 TPs and lounge
As soon as you MFU you sometimes get
MAN-LHR - X class - no lounge as it is an economy bucket

LHR-NYC - U class - lounge as club world

NYC-LHR - U class - lounge as club world

LHR-MAN - X class - no lounge as it is an economy bucket
To be fair to BA:
Domestic sectors on Club/First seem to be booking into U now ^ except

that anecdotally there is less U inventory than X on domestics
Lounge agents seem to be better advised that connections to Club mean lounge access anyway. ^
