If I rack up 50 nights a year for 80$, that will only net me 11200 points:

• 1600 points - 160 points for each of the first ten nights
• 9600 points - 240 points for the following 40 nights, as I've reached Gold level

However with just 10 nights for 1000$ each, that will net you 20,000 points, an increase of nearly 80%. That's not bad and it would get even better if you would spend 20 nights for 500$ each, which would net you 25,000 points.
