I was at DFW awhile ago and a flight to HNL was boarding. The gate agent complained she'd new volunteers, but then a supervisor came back and informed her they had "held" a flight on the tarmac, so that'd take care of the volunteer situation. In other words, the flight to HNL was oversold and AA saved themselves the trouble of issuing vouchers by not letting a flight deplane.</font>
This doesn't describe the situation I was in. There were several planes on the tarmac because they didn't have open gates for them. Even when we finally departed, the plane had a few empty seats. We waited as passengers 'trickled' in. It was just a bad day at DFW because of earlier T'storms. I don't think I would have been too upset about what happened in Houston if they hadn't closed the flight early. No one on that plane needed to make a connection. They could have waited the five minutes.
