If your choice of connecting hub is limited to DFW and IAH, and you're not coming from a Southwest airport (like GSP; hi, neighbor!), it means you're going to one of very few small Texas airports such as ILE, CLL, or MFE (although HRL is close, served by WN). It doesn't matter which airline/hub has more regional jets, because you're going to be taking a regional jet or turboprop anyway.

Going to GGG, TXK, TYR, ABI or ACT? AA is your only choice.

If you're going to someplace like SAT, AUS, HOU, TUL, etc., you could take Southwest or change planes in ATL on Delta. DL @ ATL would be my preference in that case. Mainline all the way.
