I'm really not sure how USAir would have any idea that this was a gift card. But, out of an abundance of caution, I went ahead and also bought a chap stick for $2, which hasn't posted yet. No way to be sure whether it posted as a "hit" or not, but as of now I think I have exactly 8 poted hits, so if US tells me tomorrow that I have 8,000 bonus miles, I might conclude that the gift card did in fact work. YMMV.
