Were newspapers & menus distributed and meal orders taken (Please specify when meal orders were taken - on the ground or in the air)? No newspapers were offered and meal orders were not officially taken. In my experience, the in-charge comes by to take the meal orders which was not done. The crew just put the selection on a tray and I had to point to what I liked - it is not what I am used to, but it may all work better in the end as it makes it easier to choose.

Overall experience/any other comments
1) One non-Asian crew member seemed to be frustrated when she was not able to understand/communicate with a mainland Chinese passenger. I was quite surprised with seeing the level of frustation - after all, this WAS a flight originating from PEK. Subsequently, a Chinese female crew member assisted.
2) The same Chinese female crew member did not seem friendly at all. As an international J passenger, I expected a much friendlier crew member.
