Yeah, this is bizarre.
I'm flying IAH-LHR-DUS on Tuesday and was checking my reservation last night. Was offered 7,500 RDM for $203, with EQMs being another $600. Today it's $218 (no change in the EQM price).
20,000 RDM yesterday was $600, with the additional EQMs being $1600 more. Today it's $580 for the RDM with the EQM price unchanged.
I'm guesstimating that I'll need about 3-4k miles to make Gold at the end of the year and was considering using the new service to just buy 'em and push me up over the hump. But without being offered mileage totals that are closer to what I'll actually need, though, I doubt I'll bother with it. If I could just buy double EQMs for one of the IAH-LHR legs, that would probably do the job; what they're offering me would just be a waste of money for what I'm aiming for.
