Depends on what type of holiday you want, too. Beach, city, outdoor/active, bars/clubs?

I recommend New Zealand; I go to every year (twice this year). I rent a car & just drive around enjoying the scenery. Spend a few days/week in Wellington just hanging out (went to the gay film festival here one time). NZ has been gay friendly for years & has civil unions.

Many highlights too numerous to mention. Christchurch quaint (maybe avoid just now d/t earthquake, not sure). Rafting. Rotorua. Tauranga. Napier (art deco city). Bay of Islands. I could go on & on.
