As an SE I'd prefer if every status passenger didn't grab 8 additional preferred seats on the back off one SE trying to game the rules. Making an exception of 1 additional separate passenger is one thing, but 8 is over the top.
I get your point ... It's not all 8 on the same flight btw ... But if I had booked 8 on the same flight, with one PNR I guess the rules says that all 8 would be allowed in preferred seats ...
I think the rule should be clarified, such as one SE or E can have one companion max. etc ... PNR should not be involved ... I could not have booked on one PNR because the return date was different for different people in the group.
