No, this is not possible any longer.
They installed doors and locked them so anyone going from C to D or vice-versa must go through the security area for his/her flight. The people checking your tickets/boarding passes will also catch you and redirect you if you try to go through the other's security area.

I would agree with the last statement quoted above but would amend it to say ALL AIRLINES, not just UA. It is pathetic at LAS.
