Flights wide open, but 'N' is lowest bookable fare class-- strategic implications?
Hello:
trying to book LAX-EGE (Vail) for approx Jan 5-Jan 10, 2011. Flights are wide open, but lowest available fare class is 'N'. I confirmed this with EF: there are absolutely no bookable fare buckets below 'N' on this route at that time-- it's not that they're not available, they simply don't exist.
Is this normal? Does this suggest there will be much cheaper flights available assuming demand remains low? Is it an argument to hold off buying the ticket?
My understanding is that that is actually a quiet time for Vail after the huge spike from Dec 20-Jan 1.
