$5 Fiasco: Communist Customs & Revenue Agency

This is completely off topic, but I felt like sharing the story with you guys anyway.

I work in a Canadian office of an American company. Our payroll for staff based here is processed in Montreal. They have a habit of drawing cheques for very small amounts of money when corrections are made to hourly employees wages. Apparantly, one of our employees noticed recently a discrepancy on their pay stub, and brought it to HR to be corrected. The difference worked out to $5 (gross). Instead of adding it to the next pay period, Montreal drew-up a cheque. But it gets even crazier. All pay that goes out is subject to income tax and the usual deductions. On the stub of the cheque, gross pay was listed as $5. Subtracted from this was $4.89 in income tax and a further $.11 deduction. (for CPP I believe) So the amount of the cheque? $0. And yes they actually printed it out and sent it. I am sure this is an abnormality but I found the story somewhat amusing.
