If it makes anyone feel any better, I had a B fare on a UA-ticket CO-metal flight that morphed into an M category for EQM purposes in my M+ account.

All that said, both B & M are quite high fare classes - but I still lost out on the 50% EQM bonus. I do find it hard to believe that a B fare on one would devolve to a V fare on the other.
