I will be spending a week in Montreal end of this month, and 4 nights will mean 4 stays (Aloft-Westin-W-Westin) to make stays 21-24 this year. It is indeed an inconvenience, and I can't think of anybody benefitting from this (think of the hotel, or the environment) but that's how it works, unfortunately, for those of us where 50 nights are tough to make. The only upside, if you already are Platinum, is the welcome amenity for each stay.
