The DL bassinets are teeny. Our 4 month old baby barely fit. Also, beware that they are not very deep, so your 8 month old could easily pull up and fall out of the bassinet. They do have cover that snaps on, but I would not count on it. Ideally you would have extra seats in the bassinet row so that you had the option to use the bassinet or to use an extra seat. But, remember the bassinets are bulkhead seats and these seats DO NOT have arm rests that you can raise, so you will not be able to stretch out.

If you are bringing the car seat, if you end up having an extra seat you can use it on the plane, even if you have not paid for the seat.
