Details of opening of lounge earlier this year from Star Alliance website so they should be aware of change--I would contact CO and ask them to deal with CA on this (maybe some of the staff were hired from the contract lounge and continue to enforce the old rules) . . .
Also note in the reference guide
http://www.starallianceemployees.com...09.06.2010.pdf
on page 186 that this is a Star Gold lounge (not all Star Alliance member lounges are designated as such but this one is).
On pages 140
"Paid Lounge Membership Customers

• Eligible Paid Lounge Membership customers include members of
Continental Airlines Presidents Club, United Airlines Red Carpet Club, US Airways Club and Air Canada Maple Leaf Club –Worldwide.
• Customer must present a valid, eligible Paid Lounge Membership card
• Customer must also present a boarding card for a same day Star Alliance member carrier flight departing from the local
airport
• Customer is entitled to one guest

"
and page 144 notes this in chart form.
Interesting that Guangzhou Star Gold lounge is listed in maps of terminals but not in list of lounges. That should change for 2011 reference guide.
