Hi Kat007, it is never easy when there are weather delays.
I would look for inexpensive accommodation in Frankfurt- see if LH can help you with this-recommend communicating with them in person if at all possible-regarding Oktoberfest- it is in Munich, not Frankfurt, so probably not the cause of high hotel prices as they are 400 km apart.
Good luck getting home- the focus should be in getting there as fast as possible- look to see if they can help you with tickets on other carriers as well (may indeed be possible in this situation).
