Isn't it rather that BMI has screwed up economically in the first place, so that Lufthansa was able to take over? If BMI really was such a success (from a corporate point of view) - then why is it they're not running on their own anymore? From a customer's point of view BMI may have been better, but it failed. Had Lufthansa not taken over, maybe all the miles in BMI accounts would be worth nothing, now, because the company wouldn't even be flying, anymore.
