I think CX will also do it for you automatically, but this is by no mean a rule and seems like exceptions. I have SL for years and when one year I racked up 52K miles in 4 months they upgraded me to GO status and reset my calendar year to that month.

Better way is to call MPC and ask verbally as others seem to have done and it worked.
