I understand that operations changes happen, so from time to time, the penalty box is inevitable. During this time, however, I would be curious what (if anything) the pilots need to be doing, other than monitoring their headsets for updates from operations. Maybe there is more to it, but I would imagine that they are doing about as much as the FAs and pax (aka basically sitting and waiting), so this would be even more of a reason for them to offer the common courtesy of updating passengers.

Edited to add: most of my experiences have been relatively positive, with decent information from the cockpit....didn't want to sound like I was bashing pilots in general. Just was curious if maybe there was a legitimate reason I/we were unaware of in these situations.
