Before everyone's heart bleeds out, consider the following:

If she's unhappy with her level of compensation, she could probably get a $20K/year job working retail... That would be a 25% (or more) pay increase, and enough to get her off food stamps.

Also, remember that an average flight attendant works 75 hours/month. Full-time is considered 172.5 hours/month...
That's door close to door open. Doesn't count the time in transit to hotels on layovers, waiting at a gate but not departed. The time of offloading and loading. The time on standby, etc. The list goes on. They pay them for 75 hours/month but they work more than that.

However - every company I've worked for specifically states not to discuss salaries with anyone other than your manager or HR. She violated the policy. She deserved to be fired. Don't let feeling sorry for her get in the way of seeing she did something stupid that violated company policy.
