The ability to put a non-elite traveling companion into an exit row seat is there so that you can sit next to your traveling companion, not so you can provide a more comfortable ride for your non-elite companion at the expense of another elite. If no other elite wants that exit row seat, it will be available at the airport for your friend. If another elite wants it - well, it is an "elite" benefit, not a "friends of elites" benefit.
And I'm not sure how your percentage of trips traveling alone figures into the equation? Are you afraid it might go up if you can't get your friend into the exit row?
Not at all, "my friend" is actually my 70+ year old father. And I know if his upgrade doesn't clear then I'm the one going to his seat.
Please explain to me how it is different that he and I occupy 21A and B, whereas I occupy say 2B and he occupies 21A.
I don't see any difference, same itin, originally on same PNR (and still linked). He has my EXP upgrade priority according to agents, so why not the ability to move to row 21 (he is in row 22 which is an elite zone as that is where we were before). I'm only asking to move him from one elite part to another.
