Hmmm just last week saw a guy taken by police from the T1 checkpoint at SAT for throwing stars. Not sure if they eventually charged him, but I think those are consider concealed weapons in Texas. Go figure, considering how your state DL is issued with a gun in Texas (kidding, just a bit)... And heck, I had throwing stars as a kid.
You being in Texas should know that to get a CHL requires a background check, the TSA Gold Standard, and some training on both law and ability to hit an intended target.
Holders of CHL's are much less likely to violate the law than those who are not licensed to carry.
