I generally don't pay cash for international flights anyways. That's what miles are for!

AA is usually competitive for routes I tend to fly domestically, and I believe their FFP is the best among US carriers. I get quite a few miles between flying domestically and having a large balance with BankDirect, so I have ample miles for intl awards.
