Its kind of sad that someone is unable to spend 3hours in Economy, in fact alot of us when traveling for work on shorthaul we have to fly Economy. Its not the end of the world get over it, fly another airline. At the end of the day most of the market does not have a endless supply of money.
True, but some who have been buying business class are now tempted to use other airlines instead of Air NZ. These same people may not just be doing so for short hops across the Tasman but also for their longhaul travel.
This is what I meant about self-fulfilling prophecy to the bottom. Drive those willing/able to pay high fares away and all you have left is people selecting airline mainly on price.
The surcharge to earn airbucks is ridiculous so not only is NZ annoying high revenue customers, but also loyal frequent flyers now have less of a reason to remain loyal.
It is a very odd strategy to me.
