It is quite amazing the conversations you can have with your seat neighbour on a flight. On my last return from NY I happened to end up sat next to a lady who was on her way home to Iceland (I was on FI). After dinner we happened to be chatting to the FI equivalent of the CSD, which started a conversation between us. It turned out that this lady had cancer and had been undergoing extensive treatment. She apologised to me that she had no hair, and was obviously upset about it (I can understand as hair is something that women are generally very sensitive about at the best of times).

In the end we chatted for quite a while, about a whole range of subjects. Reading between the lines, I had the feeling that this was her 'farewell' trip to Iceland, to see relatives and friends. This was obviously quite upsetting for her, but I also felt that her talking to me on the flight had helped her 'unburden' a little and put her in a better frame of mind for her visit.

So I can understand how 1D and 1F got into the conversation and how it might have become quite involved. I can also understand that if 2D could overhear it, the subject matter might have struck a raw nerve if they had suffered a recent bereavement. Or, they could just be a busy-body. All are possible.

The purser did what they could in the circumstances, after being presented with a complaint from a passenger, and I hope that he/she conveyed the reason for the conversation to 2D, in the hope that they could understand the situation too.

majoreyeswater, I wish you every success in your battle. Having listened to the lady on FI, I cannot begin to understand the strength it must take.
