Well 757s to AUS are quite rare these days, it's almost exclusively 737s and and RJs. I very much appreciate the speed and skill needed to pull off a full beverage service on a flight this short. Honestly, when I do end up in the back I don't care much either way (plus if they do attempt a service they usually at least make it to the exit rows

). But the 16 sec argument doesn't apply to F, which is what the OP was complaining about.
I've actually found the FAs are usually proactive up front and take your in-flight drink order while still on the ground so that they can get it taken care of as quickly as possible in the air. Sometimes I've seen the F FAs running back and force assisting the Y service once they've taken care of the F cabin. I don't know if they actually finish it though.
