It's a little late for this year, but an alternative to attending in person (clearly not a perfect alternative, but an alternative nonetheless) is to watch the matches on the giant screen TV set up each year in Madison Square Park, a glorious place to bring a picnic (from Shake Shack -- if you care to brave the ridiculous lines -- or from the newly opened Eataly, perhaps!) and sit on the lawn while watching the tennis. This weekend American Express has been handing out free stadium cushions by the truckload to make it even more comfortable!
