i am definitely a rookie at this since i went through a lot of posts to see if there was a similar question.

here goes.
My wife and i are planning a May 2011 vacation to Japan with a stop possibly in San Fran before heading back to Toronto

Looking at the aeroplan site it says it'll cost us 115K points to fly business. When i look at the Star Alliance rewards it says it'll cost us 100K points to fly business.

I was thinking wouldn't it be kind of cool to experience flying back with Air Nippon just to experience something different?

So my question: Is this possible...Call into the aeroplan booking centre and book with another Star Alliance partner even though Air Canada flys the same route for less points?
