Air China Lounge Access SNAFU

I am *S and have a Lifetime Continental Presidents Club paid lounge membership card. Last week I was ticketed by Air China to fly from CAN to PEK on Air China metal. When I tried to get into the Air China Lounge in Guangzhou using my CO paid lounge membership card, the lizard ladies told me I had to be *G to gain entry. I asked them to look up the *A rules on their computer system. They refused to and kept repeating must be *G. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and all of a sudden their english disappeared. Rather than make a scene I left but looking at the Star Alliance website I believed that I qualified for entry:

http://www.staralliance.com/en/benef...access-policy/

Paid Lounge Membership Customers:
Eligible Paid Lounge Membership Customers have access to any Star Alliance member carriers' owned Business Class lounges.

• Eligible Paid Lounge Membership Customers include United Airlines Red Carpet Club, US Airways Club, Air Canada Maple Leaf Club – Worldwide and Continental Airlines Presidents Club.
• Customer must present a valid eligible paid lounge membership card
• Customer must also present a boarding card for a same day Star Alliance flight departing from the local airport.
• Customer is entitled to one guest

I sent an email to the Star Alliance website asking for clarification, but have not received an answer yet.

Am I crazy or just missing something??
