How about the security check point before the gates, do they keep any of the X-Ray images for a certain time or non of those images are storable?
That would be my best bet after my wife (she could testify in favor of me).
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that you are lying about anything. What I am saying is that no one can prove they had small expensive valuables in their checked bag, which is why the airlines refuse to cover them.
