"Person of Size" Sitting in Exit Row?
I'm going YVR-PVG-YVR next week. This will be my first trip on AC. When I found out I could upgrade my coach seats to Exit Row or Bulkhead, I jumped on the opportunity. I think the $75 surcharge is easy to justify when considering leg room and general comfort on a very long haul flight. Problem is I am a "person of size" and may not be able to use the standard seat belt. This means I'd have to ask the FA for a belt extender. I've noticed recently that some carriers are not allowing anyone who needs an extension to sit in an exit row due to safety concerns. I'm concerned I may be asked to move from the exit row to a less desirable seat. How likely do you think it is that this will happen? On some US flights I can get the regular belt on by taking a deep breath and removing my jacket and/or belt. But I never know for sure until I'm on board. Can anyone offer some advice that will prevent a mildly embarrassing incident on board? I don't like bulkhead seating for several reasons that I won't describe here. Thanks!
