Picture the scene: it's 6:45am this morning and I'm on a train from central London to LGW. It's cloudy and still not entirely light. As I absent-mindedly gaze up at a passing BA 747 going into LHR (presumably), I see the cabin lights glowing dimly along the length of the aircraft.
At the front, roughly where door 1L would be, the light was noticeably brighter - or, perhaps, larger. In fact, as I tried to see what was causing this light I began to wonder whether the door was in fact open!
Of course, I'm sure this wasn't the case but I could not for the life of me understand why this portion of the fuselage was quite so much brighter than the rest of it. It was a specific point of light (not a glow) and it was not, I'm fairly sure, a reflection from the landing lights or some other external source.
I should point out that it was at least 6,000ft above me and probably the same horizontal distance away (do the trigonometry!

). I was also viewing from inside a train, and not fully awake. However there was definitely something 'extra' there and I'd love to hear if anyone knows what it might be.
