a) the anti-tip legs are gone from the 8;
b) the wheels are not protected (I smash my bags around quite a bit as you can imagine) on the 8;
c) very important to me: the rear pocket is gone on the 8!! This is important for me because it's ultra easy to store trip sheets and itineraries, receipts, etc in that pocket.
d) the "hook" attachment on the top of the case, where you can hang another bag, is a cheap snap-like affair (kind of like how the suiter clips are constructed) on the 8 while on the 7 it is a bonafide hook that doesn't look like it will break quickly.
e) the Crew 7 is 1 pound heavier than the Crew 8 for substantially the same bag...difference may be attributed to wheel guards missing, handle different, more square frame as opposed to the 8's slightly rounded look...look closely at the interior!, and maybe the 8 has less material and is less sturdy? I don't know.....

Just my $.02

I went with the Crew 7 (22") and got a super deal from a local guy (I live 10 miles from the headquarters in Boca Raton, Florida and this shop buys a bunch of stuff from travelpro with no shipping since he just puts it in his car and can massively discount) and I bought a Crew 8 rolling tote for my computer, electronics, etc, which fits very nicely strapped to the top of the 22" bag.
I guess I am all over the map. I compared the 7 and 8 and decided on 8 for my needs and noted some of your concerns which was voiced earlier in this thread. Now however I wish I had purchased TravelPro's Platinum 6 20". I am not in learjets but start with DL RJ9 then DL A333 followed by KLM's 737 on BE tickets that usually give me space and time to protect my rollerboard.

I did buy a TravelPro Platnium 6 26" (international trips) which I paid for myself but I was trying to keep the price of the 20" rollerboard close to $100 since my office paid for it. Then I turned around and got the $50 TravelPro 22" Runway (at Sams) to manage domestic driving trips.

One note about the last purchase from luggagepro.com was that when I called Friday they said wait until later in the day and the price would drop. Well at least some TravelPro luggage did drop for LaborDay but the Pl 6 26" only dropped $4 (to $256) which meant I couldn't do the 115% price challenge since they now had the lowest price of approved dealers.

While in Sweden I noticed that my friend's Tumi (Alpha garment?) was holding up really well but I could not find any sales in stores or online for the large Tumi last week.
