Are these "cash upgrades" associated with specific fare inventory bucket? (e.g "T", "E", or "W")?
So, for example, if I was to look on expertflyer.com and saw T2 would know that a cash upgrade is possible.
I'm not sure it is that straight forward. The last time I upgraded a Y to WTP ticket it went from an 'M' fare into the 'P' bucket. Conversely I recently upgraded a ET ticket which turned from a 'V' fare to an 'I' fare.
