What if he got run over by a car the next day, then AC would cancel all the flights he was supposed to be flying? I don't think so, they would bring in another pilot to replace him.

This is not some hick town in a 3rd world country, where there is only two pilots, this is Las Vegas.

What is unprofessional and foolish is to cancel a flight with no notice to the passengers and try to put us in some crappy motel as far away from the strip as possible.

They didn't even try to rebook anyone on other airlines
Sorry, fellow, you started out with a good basic complaint. And the core issue of your inconvenience remains. But you're digging yourself a deep hole - and starting to sound like an idiot - when you try to pass judgment on the pilot. The fact is, pilots are licensed to fly for their own airline. There is no such thing as rent-a-pilot. AC can't ask United or US Airways for a crew to fly AC's aircraft. That is illegal.

Nor would a rational person expect AC to station backup crews at every airport in its system for a situation like this, just as you wouldn't expect an airline to have a backup aircraft at every airport in its system. When these things happen at large AC airports like YYZ, there are reserve plane and crew opportunities, but when they happen late at night at a offline airport like LAS, it's not obviously better to send a new plane and crew from Toronto to fly you out since it would take almost as long to get them to Vegas as it would giving the inbound crew of your flight eight hours sleep.

Now you add even more color by saying the airline put you up far from the strip. Had they put you up on the strip, would that have made everything fine? Is that your beef now?

Frankly, I think you're right to complain, but flat-out wrong in your reasoning which is why people here began by counselling you to keep your complaint brief and factual.
