I've had two good experiences myself as long as it was within an hour or so timeframe (before the plane leaves again)....after that, and after a week I wouldn't hold out much hope.

Flying to Chile fairly regularly now I'd actually bet money that the ground crew left it (if they indeed ran across it) and the plane went on with some other pax to find the tunes!
