I lost something on a Santiago-Panama City-Miami flight on the old Eastern Airlines in the mid 80's. It was never found. Since then, I lost another item that was never returned. I haven't lost anything in a long time because I go through a mental checklist before leaving a plane now.

Sorry to say it, but I think your chances of recovery are almost zero. If it were an odd item, like a wooden leg, someone might return it.
