Lost and Found - what are my chances?

I did a search on "Lost and Found" but didn't get any help to this question.

Last week, I flew DFW to SCL (Santiago). I am almost certain that I left a small pouch/case with about 10 CD's in the seat back pocket.

I called AA and they directed me to general baggage. They said that I needed "Lost and found" which varies by airport (there is no central number). They could not find a "lost and Found" phone number for SCL (an ominous sign) and so referred me to SCL's baggage department. In my hopeless Spanish and the attendant's much better English, I think he checked records for the flight and date I was on and said "nothing was found". Of course what he said and what he thought I asked him to check may have actually been very different to what was intended and what I am reporting here.

Anyway, has anyone got any hints for recovering items left on an AA plane (phone numbers, email addresses etc) and by the way: "What do you really think my chances are?!"

Thanks in advance
