American Airlines TPA-MIA-SAL-LAX-SFO-DFW-TPA

Part 3 SFO-DFW-TPA

SFO to DFW
AA1996

B767-300
Seat 3G First (NGBC seats)

I arrived at the airport at 7:40 for my 9:30AM departure. Check in was quick and easy, and I had a lot of time to walk around the terminal. It was pretty slow at SFO this early in the morning on a holiday weekend. I had a seat by a gate where a UA flight was departing from and found a phone underneath one of the chairs; I turned it into the gate agent, but I’m not sure if they asked people on board the plane if that was their phone. Hopefully they turned it in to lost and found and the owner will eventually find it.
Boarding started at 8:50AM; I believe all of AA’s 767s have the Next Generation Business Class seats which on this flight are sold as domestic first class seats. I don’t think these seats are as bad as some people make them out to be. I’ve flown in them to Delhi and to and from Europe and always been able to sleep on them. My only complaint would be access to the aisles from a window seat or the center seat on a 777.

At 9:30 the captain made an announcement and said that he was going to have some technicians look at some issues in the cockpit which he hoped were minor. The crew started playing the NBC Universal shows while we waited; I hoped it wouldn’t be a long wait or canceled flight.
Luckily, after a few minutes the captain came on and said that everything was OK and we were ready to take off at 9:42.
A video on the features of the business class seats was shown and an announcement was made that they would be showing a movie on today’s flight; The Last Airbender.
Hot towels were passed around and then the carts came down offering us our choice of drinks. We were given warm nuts with our drinks which I found odd. I was expecting breakfast with this 9:30AM departure, but it turns out that we were served lunch instead.
The choice was a warm Roast Beef and Cheese sandwich or a cold BBQ Chicken Salad. I chose the salad which actually turned out to be a Southwestern chicken salad with beans, corn, and tortilla chips. There was a small bag of pita chips and a cheese spread served with the salad.
Desert was a warm English Toffee and White Chocolate cookie; it was delicious.

I turned my seat into the angled lie-flat bed and I slept for the rest of the way into DFW were we landed only a few minutes late at the newer D Terminal.
Luckily my next flight was also departing from this terminal; from the last gate before the walkway to the B Terminal. I was able to get a cool shot of the 737 which would take me to Tampa with a Super 80 heading to Mexico behind it, another 737, a 777 heading to LHR and then the 767 I had just arrived on which as t turns out was heading to CDG.

Seat 5F First

Once again, another flight on one of AA’s 737s. However, this was a much newer plane; the cabin was fresh and shiny with new F class seats and little LCD screens that drop down from the ceiling.

First class cabin was full and as I was tired, I slept most of the way and did not enjoy the dinner served onboard.
I did make a note of the choices though; Chicken Teriyaki or Tortellini with Romano Sauce. For dessert, fresh baked cookies were brought around but I’m not sure what kind they were. They seemed to be some kind of oatmeal cookies with dried cranberries or blueberries.
We arrived in TPA a few minutes late and thus concludes my first Trip Report. My next one should be a lot more interesting with Crown Class flights on JR as well as domestic Egypt Air flights. Thanks for reading!
