Through David O, we booked two deluxe casitas, which were actually an automatic upgrade from the previous category. One went to my parents, while the other went to my family of four. Through the Stay Longer package, we paid $205 per night for two nights, with the third night free. The fourth night was $179. Our package also included the buffet (or American) breakfast every morning, as well as one lunch credit of $85 per casita. Since we ate big breakfasts, we were able to use my parent's credit on one day and ours on a different one. The total bill for four days was approximately $600.

As usual, the resort did an excellent job. We had a casita near the pool and lobby, so getting back and forth was a breeze. We had requested two cribs ahead of time and the resort left us a cute little set-up of baby shampoo, soaps and wash clothes for the kids. Considering what we did to the hotel's laundry bill over the next few days, I'm surprised there was no surcharge.

We spent most of our time at the kiddie pool. They arranged the little cabanas for us and brought out pack and plays for the kids, so we could stretch out a bit. There are two other pools, one of which is adults only, as well as a hot tub. The Wondertwins got their first experience swimming, which they loved. Throughout the day, the waiters brought over chilled grapes, smoothie samples, candy, etc. In addition, poolside service was generally excellent. There were a few other families there, but there was always space (although I did see that they occasionally ran out of space around the big pools). Service slacked a touch on Saturday, but the place was mobbed. Still, the resort did an excellent job of keeping things running smoothly and never making us feel like they were overburdened.

Obviously, rates are rock bottom at the resorts right now, so I'm sure we could have stayed even cheaper if we had wanted to look at one of the other resorts in the area. But we knew that we would be taken care of here, and with the kids in the picture, we wanted to make sure that everything went smoothly. It did.

Ditto. Just got back from our second annual trip with the kids and my parents and had virtually the same experience.

Highlight: We have 20-month old twins and when we got to our casita, we found that it had been baby-proofed.

Lowlight: The hotel now charges $10 per night for self-parking. Seriously? I know room rates are low, but c'mon, that's getting petty at a luxury hotel.
