The airlines must come to some kind of deal with each airport. LGW N does not track while airline pax are with but the timing of the when the line is actually open is very erratic.
It has become a bit more regular in its opening hours of late.
Open from about 7am until early afternoon, then again late afternoon until about an hour before Emirates leaves. In other words at the busiest times for people travelling in premium cabins, ie. long haul flights.
