This info appears to be yet further validation of my decision to move a good chunk of my domestic flying away from CO/UA and towards DL... as a top-tier on CO, my LGA-CLE flight (400 miles) yesterday didn't clear until 24 hrs in advance, whereas as lower-mid-tier on DL, I cleared ATL-DEN on a Friday evening over 4 days in advance. I have no complaints about my UG% as a 1K, but I've gotten REALLY frustrated with the lack of WiFi, and the total crap-shoot that is in-seat power availability on UA (no way to know until you're on the plane if your 757 or 320 a) has EmPower, or b) if it's working). This sure has been encouraging so far... I know, I know, don't get my hopes up

No I think you can expect more of the same from DL. DL is a very good domestic airline with the best UG program out there. If you put any value in International Business class awards or Upgrades then you will be very disappointed. It all depends what you want out of your airline. I am struggling to decide whether to continue to get sour every month when I fly Internationally or just get status on another carrier for that portion of my business. It would be a VERY easy decision for me if there was a path to reasonably priced upgrades internationally...it would be DL hands down but right now I am among a pretty big number of DM's who need to make a decision for Int travel.
