I'm not sure how old you mean, but I have a number of bags that I routinely travel with that I would bet are around 20 or so years old now. One is a large-carry-on sized duffel with two leather hand straps and four metal studs on the bottom. For my luggage I've used the older Hartmann suitcases with the four wheels and "dog leash" style strap.

They're a bit inconvenient for air travel unless you're in a particularly small airport with little walking distances, but I adore them for road trips. To be fair though, they do scuff remarkably easily.
