That's potentially a big deal! Was that information provided by a CSR? Did you ask, or did s/he volunteer it?
Open your Citigold interest checking account with a $500 minimum deposit8. There's no monthly service fee for the first two statement cycles. After that, we'll continue to waive the monthly fee if the combined average balance of your eligible linked accounts is:

* $100,000 or more across all your linked Citi accounts
OR
* $250,000 or more if your Citibank first mortgage is included in the total relationship.

Otherwise, a $25 monthly service fee will apply. *
NOTE: The brochure also shows:
*You can also have $50,000+ in deposits including retirement accounts (to have the monthly fee waived)
*The monthly fee (for not meeting set criteria) is raised to $30/month
*Waived annual fees on participating credit cards.#
#Participating credit cards include: Citi Platinum Select/AAdvantage World Matercard, Citi Premier Pass - Elite Level. The Citigold account must be open and in good standing for the fee waiver to remain in effect.
*Waived foreign exchange fee (if you use the debit card)
*Free AAdvantage Debit Card (1 mile/$) - which has a 4k signup bonus
