Yes, "direct flights" like these are misleading, and I wonder why the DOT has never banned the practice.
Even worse: DL is notorious for "direct" domestic flights XXX-ATL-YYY that rarely, if ever, are truly direct. 99 or 100% of the time, a connection is required. AA isn't as likely to do that on a domestic flight.
