These fares seem very low.

But the US national average wage was 5,571.76 in 1968 (and is now 41,334.97).

Which means that a night at the Pierre at USD 30-37 is equivalent to today's night at USD 222-274 (when cheapest rate is currently at USD 381, i.e. from 40 to 77% to higher than it was in 1968).
