Is this specific of UA? With AC, several times I have done OLCI for tickets with an infant.

On the thread subject, I would register the infant. Later, if the infant does not travel, they shouldn't say anything if you don't board with him. Again, I haven't done this with UA, but I have with LH (on a TATL) and it was a non-issue.
