If you passed beyond Step 3 to the customization page (Step 5) but not instant approval, your chance of getting approval is much higher than those stopped at Step 3.
This was my experience when I tried applying for the 75,000 bonus mile Citi Amex card. I have two other Citi cards (AA Plat World MC & a dividend card). I called and after customer service review, I was approved! I also confirmed that I will be getting the 75K miles even though I already have an Aadvantage MC which has been opened for about 4 or 5 years.
Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere already but CitiGold checking account holders have the annual fee waived.
