General rule of thumb for flights in Canada is to take the base fare and double it for total cost after tax. Prior to looking at flights in the US, I wondered how so many people could do it so often. Then I realized just how comparatively little you guys get taxed on flights (though we still enjoy the liberties of free checked bags ).
